AEC Systems New Zealand now NZIA Accredited Provider

AEC Systems in New Zealand recently became part of the New Zealand Institue of Architecture (NZIA) CPD Provider Network. We would like to thank our clients who have supported us in the process of becoming accredited and look forward working closer with the NZIA and our clients to continue to deliver quality and professional-led events is line with the CPD Programme.

CPD or Continuing Professional Development is all about providing on-going quality learning for practicing Architects and serves as the primary means of developing and maintaining professional standards of competency and excellence. The Registered Architects Act 2005 requires the New Zealand Registered Architects Board (NZRAB) to access Registered Architects for continued registration every five years. CPD is the primary means through which Registered Architects can demonstrate they have met the standards of professional development and maintain their professional registration. The New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) has been contracted by NZRAB to provide the overall structure of CPD, to administer its ongoing functionality and to manage the CPD website.

CPD is all about quality research-based learning that enhances and adds to the Architect’s professional knowledge. Design, Documentation, Project Management and Practice Management are the four categories of professional competency that determine all CPD learning events. Every CPD learning event is aligned to one or more of these competencies. These competencies are contained in the National Competency Standards in Architecture and are recognised in both New Zealand and Australia.

All CPD learning events are assessed by an Accreditation Panel for quality and value to architects and for their alignment to the Units of Competency and these are then given CPD points. CPD points are only allocated to approved CPD learning events.

The NZIA CPD Provider Network is a group of mainly manufacturers, product & service providers who are licensed by the NZIA to provide CPD learning events for Registered Architects. The members of the CPD Provider network work closely with the NZIA to provide quality, research-based information to New Zealand Institute of Architects.

CPD learning events provided by members of the Network, once accredited, are displayed as Scheduled events on the NZIA website at www.nzia.co.nz under the Education tab.  All CPD learning events submitted by Providers are awarded CPD points on a per activity basis.

AEC Systems will over the next few months start introducing CPD learning events – so keep your eyes on some of these scheduled events and take advantage of these events to aid towards your continued registration.
